FREE BEGUM KHALEDA ZIA

Begum Zia has been suffering from chronic kidney conditions, decompensated liver diseases, unstable haemoglobin, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and other complications. Most of these diseases developed during her captive time and were not treated properly as there were no advanced treatment facilities there.  

November 28, 2021, the medical board formed for her treatment announced that she had been suffering from liver cirrhosis. She has been taking treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka starting from April 27- June 19, 2021, 12 October 12 – November 3, 2021 and again since November 14, 2021.

The BNP Chairperson and former three times elected Prime Minister of Bangladesh Begum Khaleda Zia has been kept imprisoned in a baseless case by an unelected regime. 

Thursday, February 8, 2018, the current autocratic regime without people’s mandate, kept Begum Khaleda Zia in confinement in a government dictated verdict. This reverend politician also didn’t get bail, medical and other facilities that even a common person normally gets till March 25, 2021.  On March 25,  2020, she was released for six months, conditioned she would stay at her home in Gulshan and not leave the country. 

This is an ill designed treatment by this brutal and the most corrupt government to bar Begum Khaleda Zia from participating in political activities.

Her medical board members said she required immediate and better treatment abroad as she had been diagnosed with liver cirrhosis. But, the government declined her to let go abroad for advanced treatment.

People from all across the country and global arena have been demanding an end to this ongoing injustice to the nation’s uncompromising leader for democracy and development, the first woman prime minister and a senior politician, without further delay.
